The application code is MIT licensed
The Lyrice application code is released under the MIT License. You are free to use, copy, modify, and distribute it, subject to the MIT terms.
The MIT license governs the code. Downloading a ready-made, prebuilt copy of Lyrice is a separate thing from the license, covered below.
Buying a license to a free app
Lyrice is free to download, and activating the current version costs $6.99 for a one-time license. Buying activates your downloaded copies and supports continued development.
A purchase is a one-time transaction. It activates the version you bought and does not expire on a clock.
Open source licenses are for the code. Buying a copy of the app is a separate transaction that helps pay for the release builds, signing, and ongoing work — it does not change the MIT license of the source.
Refunds
If a purchase does not work on your machine or you are unhappy within a reasonable window, email or open an issue and you will get a refund. It is more important that you are not stuck with a copy you cannot use.
Lyrics are not ours
Lyrice shows lyric text that belongs to its rightsholders. Lyrics matched from online providers are the property of those rightsholders, and synced lyric files you import are yours. None of this is part of the MIT license and Lyrice grants no rights in it.
The Lyrice application code is the part of the project that is MIT licensed.
Use at your own risk
Lyrice follows the currently playing track and displays text over your screen. If it misreads a track or shows something wrong, that is on us to fix, not a reason to rely on it for anything where being wrong would be costly. The software is provided as-is under the MIT license, without warranty of any kind.
