The short version
Lyrice is a desktop lyrics app for macOS. It has no account system, no telemetry, and no server of its own. It never captures or uploads your audio. Online lyric providers are optional and off by default; when you enable them, only matching metadata is sent to the provider you chose.
What Lyrice stores on your Mac
Your matched lyric library, cached lyrics, imported lyric files, and settings are stored locally on your Mac. Nothing in the library or cache is sent anywhere by Lyrice itself.
Playback following needs permission to read the currently playing track from macOS. Apple Music and Spotify may ask for Automation permission, and player following may require approval in your Login Items settings — both are system permissions you control.
Online lyric providers
Lyric providers are optional and off by default. When you enable one, Lyrice searches it for the current track and sends the matching metadata it needs: title, artist, album, and duration. Which providers you enable, and in what order, is your choice, and matched lyrics are then cached locally.
Each provider applies its own privacy policy to the data you send it. Lyrice is not affiliated with any lyrics provider.
Updates
Lyrice checks GitHub Releases for new versions when you ask it to. That request is a normal network call to GitHub, which applies its own privacy policy.
This website
This site is a static website. It runs no analytics scripts and sets no tracking cookies. It is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which may keep standard access logs (such as IP addresses) as part of its hosting service.
Where this page comes from
This is a plain-language description of how Lyrice behaves; the behavior it describes ships with the app. The application code is MIT licensed. If a release ever changes how data is handled, the change ships with that release and is noted in the changelog.
